Your financial institution has enrolled your card in MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa so that wherever you see the MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa online, your card number will automatically be recognized during checkout, and your financial institution will be contacted to confirm your identity as the genuine cardholder.
If you have not yet registered your card, you will be prompted to enter information that your financial institution will use to confirm your identity. Your information will be validated by your financial institution immediately and then you will be prompted to create a password to register the service. Once registered, your MasterCard or Visa card number cannot be used without your personal password for online purchases with online retailers participating in MasterCard or Visa.
If you have already registered your card, after you enter your card number during checkout and submit your order, a MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa window will appear and your financial institution will display an authentication page. Enter your password and click submit. Once your identity is verified by your financial institution, your checkout continues.
If you have forgotten your password, just click the "Forgot your password" link in the authentication window and follow the instructions provided by your financial institution. Always be sure to keep your password safe and never write it down. If you ever suspect that a fraudulent purchase has been made using your MasterCard or Visa account, contact your MasterCard or Visa card issuer immediately.
Your personal message, selected during registration, appears automatically in the MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa authentication screen during checkout. It's an extra piece of validation to assure you that this is, indeed, an authentic MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa window and that it's safe to enter your password here. You should always check to see that your personal message appears correctly.
